Suzuki Music Columbus has been closely monitoring and following State and National guidelines regarding COVID-19. In order to prioritize the health and safety of our participants, faculty and staff, we have made the decision to postpone the Suzuki Music Columbus Summer Institute 2020 to 2021.

SMC Summer Institute will now be held June 5–13, 2021.

Student Camp will be June 7-12, 2021.

Teacher Training will be June 5-13, 2021.

Student Programs // June 8-13
Suzuki Music Columbus boasts a long history of hosting a summer camp experience for Suzuki and advanced traditional students of all ages. Students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in concentrated study that compliments the work that goes on in studios and homes throughout the year in a relaxed, family-friendly environment.

Suzuki Teacher Training // June 6-14
Suzuki Teacher Training Courses run concurrently with the camp, providing teachers an immersion experience in the Suzuki Method. Teachers have the opportunity to work closely with trainers and observe Suzuki lessons, group classes, and performances.

Housing & Meals

Housing and Meal packages are available on-campus in air conditioned residence halls.

Student Housing:

  • Teen Dorm $350
  • Double room & two meal passes $575
  • Single room & one meal pass $375

Teacher Training Housing:

  • One course: 4 nights single room & meal pass $275
  • Two courses: 8 nights single room & meal pass $500


Columbus is a major metropolitan area with interesting shopping and many attractions such as the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, COSI Museum, Columbus Museum of Art, Franklin Park Conservatory. Just off campus is the Alum Creek Park with an outdoor amphitheater, a fun playground and picnic area.

Other Info

John Glen International Airport has flights from most major cities on a variety of airlines. Often we are able to provide airport transfers to and from Otterbein Campus for teachers attending training courses provided arrangements are made in advance.

The SAA sets guidelines for Suzuki institutes, festivals and teacher workshops and sanctions separate organizations to manage such events.
