We are a string music camp inspiring young musicians to achieve their potential. We have over 600 participants annually. This year’s guest artists will be Paul Aguilar on violin, Amy Sue Barston on cello and the Fry Street Quartet.

We are excited to be back in-person for 2023 for students and teachers.

Student Fees

We are excited to be back in-person this year for violin, viola, cello, bass and trumpet students!

  • Twinkle Curriculum $325 ($395 4/1)
  • Lower Book Curriculum $545 ($620 4/1)
  • Upper Book Curriculum $610 ($690 after 4/1)
  • Advanced String Camp $630 ($710 starting 4/1)
  • Chamber Days with the Fry Street Quartet $895 ($970 starting 4/1)
  • Enrichment courses $85 per class
  • Family registration fee $30

Teacher Fees

All teacher training will be in-person this year and observations will be completed on site. Please note: There is a family registration fee of $30 in addition to tuition. Price includes a t-shirt.

  • Book 1 $740 ($815 starting 4/1)
  • Single Book Unit $570 ($645 starting 4/1)
  • Double Book Unit $885 ($965 starting 4/1)

Scholarships

ISSI Student Scholarships

For Students, Amount: Half tuition, Application due: March 15
All scholarship applications are completed electronically. Please go to https://issisuzuki.org/798-2/ to complete the application. You will need to have an audition piece of your choosing uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo and have the link to your video available to place in the application. The deadline for all scholarship applications is March 15th. This assistance is available for students who truly could not attend without it. Financial need is the top priority in awarding financial assistance. Ability will be the second consideration. Even if you are not awarded a scholarship, you will be allowed to register without penalty. Please note: Any student or teacher awarded a scholarship will be required to help with institute week including sitting at the scholarship table, helping with t-shirts, any other need that we have. If you are not willing to help, please do not apply. No full scholarships are awarded. You will be expected to supply the balance of tuition.

You are eligible to apply if you are a member of the Suzuki Association of Utah (SAU), have an active studio of 10 students and have completed ECC and Book One prior to Institute. If you do not meet these requirements, see the SAA website for SAA sponsored teacher scholarships. * Peter Moench Cello Teacher Workshop Memorial Scholarship: Donated by friends of the Lou and Deborah Moench family. This scholarship is open to all members of SAA. Membership in SAU is not required. * Ramona Stirling Scholarship Fund: Donated by friends of Ramona Stirling. This scholarship is open to teachers beginning their training journey to help offset costs.

Housing & Meals

No on-campus housing available. You may find nearby hotels in Draper, Sandy or Midvale.

Recreation

Make a vacation out of your trip to Utah for Institute!

We have many families come from out of state that make a vacation out of institute either before or after their institute week. We have beautiful mountain views great for hiking, biking and relaxation. Also of interest would be the 2002 Winter Olympic Parks nearby, Temple Square, LDS Conference Center, Real Salt Lake Soccer Stadium and much more! We would be happy to make some recommendations if you need some ideas.

We offer a variety of add-on options for our institute.

Daycare: $100 per child for half-day or $180 per child for full-day
Meal Passes: All must be pre-ordered and paid in full when you register.

Our building is handicapped accessible. When traveling, please fly in to the Salt Lake International Airport.
