Event Description

Let’s continue the journey of learning about Suzuki Piano in the beautiful facilities at the MacPhail Center for Music.

To qualify as a participant in Suzuki teacher training courses, applicants must submit a DVD video audition to the SAA, preferably prior to course enrollment. If submitted later than 8 weeks before the course start date, audition results determining participant eligibility may not be available prior to the course, and will require late audition fees. Please contact Annette Lee with any further questions.

All teacher training participants are asked to prepare the repertoire to be studied to the point of fluent performance. Memorization is not required but is recommended. Additionally, participants should be conversant with the ideas presented in Dr. Suzuki’s book Nurtured by Love. All participants will be performing in class. It is recommended that participants bring an audio recorder and a notebook to all sessions. 100% attendance is required for registering the course.

Prerequisite course:

Every Child Can!, or Filosofía

Audition: Piano Basic, or Piano Comprehensive.

Deadline: All audition materials must be submitted by September 12 *
*A discounted Audition Fee applies if audition is submitted before July 28. If submitted within 8-weeks of the course start date, the regular audition fee will apply.

Trainer Information

Annette Lee

Annette Lee has been a Suzuki teacher since 1988. She received her BM in piano performance from Wheaton Conservatory and her MM in piano performance from the University of Michigan, where she was a fellowship student under Louis Nagle and Martin Katz. Her Suzuki training has been with Yasuko Joichi, Doris Koppelman, Jane Kutscher Reed, Rick Mooney, Fay Adams and Mary Craig Powell. Ms. Lee has taught at the Music Institute of Chicago and DePaul University and is currently on faculty at the MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis. At MacPhail, she is a Suzuki teacher, directs the parent training program for the Suzuki department, and is a staff accompanist. She is a frequent clinician at Suzuki Institutes, having taught in Stevens Point, WI, Blue Lake Institute, MI, Mt. Royal Academy, Calgary, the Wheaton Preparatory Department, IL the Preucil School in IA and at the Colorado Suzuki Institute.
