Location: Western Springs School of Talent Education, 1106 Chestnut Street, Western Springs, IL (3rd floor of Education Building)

Course Description: This class will cover the literature in Book 7, technical studies and reading materials for this level.  We will also discuss ideas for teaching transfer students who may need remedial work.  8 hours of observation are required by the SAA; 5 hours of observation can be done through uploaded videos and 3 hours will be done live.

Prerequisite: Every Child Can!, Violin or Viola Book One, Violin or Viola Book Two

Audition: Violin Intermediate or Comprehensive

Registration: $415.00

Refunds: Refunds are available up until 30 days before the course start date. No refunds permitted for this course after September 3, 2016. There are no refunds given for registrants who do not complete the course prerequisites or audition requirement if the refund request is made after the refund deadline. Registrants who have not completed the course prerequisites and audition requirement by the first day of the course will continue to participate as auditors. Auditors observe the class but do not fully participate. Auditors will not have this course registered with the SAA as completed.

Audition: Violin Intermediate, or Violin Comprehensive.

Deadline: All audition materials must be submitted by October 3 *
*A discounted Audition Fee applies if audition is submitted before August 8. If submitted within 8-weeks of the course start date, the regular audition fee will apply.

Nancy Jackson

Nancy Jackson is the Assistant Director of the Western Springs School of Talent Education, in Western Springs, Illinois, where she teaches both violin and viola. She is a registered Violin Teacher Trainer with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and is active in training young teachers locally and at summer institutes. Nancy holds a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music in Violin Performance from Northwestern University. Her principal teachers were Talmadge Smith, Mary Ann Mumm, and Henryk Kowalski. Her Suzuki teacher training was done with Margery Aber, James Mauer, and Carol Dallinger. She founded the Suzuki School of Music in Bismarck, North Dakota, in 1986. She has also taught at the University of Evansville (IN) Suzuki program, and Western Illinois University. Nancy is an avid golfer and cyclist, and also enjoys spending time with her two cats, Mimi and Musetta.
