Lessons the Suzuki Method Taught Me

When I was five years old, I convinced my parents to let me begin taking violin lessons. At the time, I scarcely realized that music would become a life-long passion of mine. I started in the Suzuki method, taking both private lessons and attending group classes. Suzuki has been part of my life and a sort of second home and community for me ever since. In middle school, I decided to join our local youth orchestra, broadening my musical repertoire greatly. Since I enjoyed this orchestra so much, I joined my high school orchestra in ninth grade. There were few violists, and the section was sorely in need of some strong players. After talking to a now very dear friend in the section and my teacher, I decided to give learning viola a try. I actively pursue both instruments now. Heading into my junior year of high school this coming fall, I know that music will always be a part of my life. I hope to double major in music and some other field in college, and take my music with me wherever life may lead.
