Detroit Institute of Art Volunteer Meeting

A quartet of students and Suzuki teacher Clara Hardie of Detroit Youth Volume performed to the delight of Detroit Institute of Art volunteers at their annual meeting this summer. It was a sunny day on the veranda of a beautiful historic mansion on the Detroit River called the Grosse Point War Memorial.

Clara Hardie

Clara’s teaching goal is to nurture beautiful humanity and beautiful talent. She founded & directs a Suzuki program called Detroit Youth Volume. In additional to classical training, DYV brings in local & visiting artists for special Detroit-centric music workshops. These collaborations develop positive cultural identities in her students as Detroiters and as youth of color (applicable to 70% of DYV).
