Mr. Tal Schifter
Tal Schifter is the director of the Suzuki Strings of Long Island. The group made their Carnegie Hall debut in 2007 as invited guest artists of the Laurie Strauss Leukemia Foundation Benefit Concert emceed by Rob Reiner. Mr. Schifter teaches at Sound Encounters and the Ottawa Suzuki Institute in Kansas where he has been on faculty since 1994. He has been on faculty as well at the Ithaca Suzuki Institute since 2008 and at the Hartt Suzuki Institute since 2015. Mr. Schifter also taught at the Texas State University Suzuki Institute during it’s existence for five summers. He has been a featured clinician at several workshops in the United States. He holds a B.M. in violin performance from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music as well as a Masters in Journalism from The Ohio State University. Mr. Schifter is also a graduate of the Juilliard Pre-College Division. He was invited in 1984 to tour as soloist with the Long Island Youth Symphony for their summer tour of the Far East. He appeared as soloist with the Long Island Youth Symphony as a result of winning the concerto competition in 1984.
