Event Description
The Green Mountain Suzuki Institute located in Rochester, Vermont, is an approved Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) Institute for string, flute, and piano students ages 4-adult. This year, 2014, marks our 11th year in Rochester. Our enthusiastic professional staff is committed to creating an inspiring week of music and fun for your family, providing motivation and reinforcement for home study.
Each student at the institute has a master class and group lesson every day. In addition, each student chooses elective classes including: art, string orchestra, chorus, composition, fiddling, viola for violinists, handbells, international folk dancing, improvization, jazz piano, jazz orchestra, circus arts, and African drumming. Advanced students may participate in a chamber music group, working every day with piano, flute and string coaches. A parent is required to accompany the student throughout each day. Older students have the option of joining our teen program.
The Institute is an opportunity for parents to share ideas with other parents and teachers, reinforce each other’s efforts, and learn new skills for working with their children. Every year, parents tell us that attending GMSI with their children is the “best family vacation” they have ever had!
