Prerequisite course: Bass Unit 1
Audition: Bass Basic, or Bass Comprehensive.
Deadline: All audition materials must be submitted by June 25 *
*A discounted Audition Fee applies if audition is submitted before April 30. If submitted within 8-weeks of the course start date, the regular audition fee will apply.
Virginia Dixon, one of two Teacher Trainers of bass for SAA and the only Bass Trainer for ESA, teaches at the Suzuki School of Elgin as well as in her home studio and at Elmhurst College. This coming summer she will teach at Suzuki institutes including in Beaver Creek, CO, Stevens Point, WI and Japan-Seattle Suzuki Institute. She was long time Board Member of the International Society of Bassists, where she still edits their journal’s Child’s Play Column. In 2005 she received the ISB Special Achievement Award as their Young Bassist Ambassador. She has trained Suzuki bass teachers from twenty countries on three continents. She holds two performance degrees from Indiana University and has studied with Julius Levine, Murray Grodner, and Georg Hortnagel. Her performances have taken her throughout the United States as well as Europe and Japan as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra player.
