Yasmin Craig Vitalius

Yasmin Craig Vitalius received her Bachelor of Arts in Music, Science and Technology from Stanford University with a double concentration in violin performance and composition. Upon graduation, she was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to study Turkish Folk music in Ankara, Turkey where she also performed with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra. She received her Masters of Music in Violin Performance from the Eastman School of Music under teachers Zvi Zeitlin and Ilya Kayler. Other principal teachers were Zoya Leybin and Server Ganiyev.  Ms. Vitalius was a fellow with the New World Symphony under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas from 2001-2004.

Yasmin Vitalius has concertized as a member of the Meliora String Quartet and the Improvisational String Quartet. She is currently a member of the Portland Symphony Orchestra and maintains a full private studio. She performs regularly with Opera Maine and Portland Ballet. 

Ms. Vitalius is a violin section coach for the University of Southern Maine Youth Ensembles and has led chamber music ensembles at the Portland Conservatory of Music Young Artist and Karger Scholars Program. She coached the inaugural two seasons of the Mozart Mentor’s Orchestra project at Bowdoin College where she is a member of the violin faculty.

Yasmin Vitalius is the director of the New England Suzuki Institute and a teaching artist with the Portland Symphony Orchestra Musical Explorers’ program.

Yasmin lives in Yarmouth, Maine with her husband Brit and children Coltrane and Allegra.
