Violin, Viola Teacher
Multi-instrumentalist Weini Tekeste received a Bachelor of Music in violin performance from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master’s in Suzuki pedagogy and violin performance from the University of Minnesota.
Weini began her Suzuki violin training at age five in Amarillo, Texas. By eight, she started piano lessons, participating in various regional festivals and guilds with both instruments. After high school, Weini added viola lessons, while continuing piano and violin.
Throughout her musical career, she has played with the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, the Lawton Symphony Orchestra, and the Fort Smith Symphony Orchestra. Beyond classical music, she has also performed with jazz and hip-hop artists in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and performed live with artists such as Tony Bennett, John Bayless, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
As a teacher, Weini has led violin studios in Minneapolis/ St Paul, MN, Dalhart, TX, and Norman, OK. For the past six years in the Twin Cities, Weini has taught over two hundred private violin and viola students at St. Joseph’s School of Music, St. Paul Conservatory of Music, Ascension School, Ying Hua Academy, and Michael Frome Academy. Weini was the secretary of the Suzuki Association of Minnesota for two years and is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
