French cellist Violaine Mazel  studied at the famous Conservatory in Boulogne Billancourt in Paris and in Lille with Xavier Gagnepain and Helene Dautry. She received her DEM (Diplome d’Etudes Musicales) with a first prize for cello, chamber music and theory in 2002.
She has studied string quartet in collaboration with the Quatuor Rosamonde and performed with other chamber music ensembles (chamber orchestra, trios, and cello ensembles).

She performed with orchestras such as the Orchestre National de Lille (ONL) conducted by Jean-Claude. Casadessus, the Orchestre Symphonique Francais (OSF) and the orchestra of the conservatory in Boulogne Billancourt. She participated in various French festivals including Flaine and Les Arcs.

After moving to Brazil in 2011, she joined the Orchestra Filarmonica de Sao Caetano do Sul, conducted by Sergio Assumpcao. She participated in the Jazz Sinfonica de Sao Paulo and in the Instituto Fukuda Orquesra (IFO). She has performed as member and soloist in the Fukuda Cello Ensemble (FCE). 

Violaine is Passionate about a wide variety of music and always on the lookout for new projects: she decided to explore the Musica Popular Brasileira (MPB) and created a trio with Paulo Tine, (guitarist and composition teacher in the EMESP) that revisited  famous classics of MPB (Tom Jobim, Chico Buarque, etc.) and arranged them for trio. The trio played in famous theaters throughout Sao Paulo ( SESC, Teatro da Vila etc.).

While a student herself, Violaine discovered her love of teaching and started a cello studio in Paris. She also taught cello and pre-k music discovery at the Conservatoire Octave in Paris. Once in Brazil, she taught at the Instituto Fukuda. She became the pedagogical leader of the Institute and led the theory, orchestra and chamber music lessons, and organized workshops and masterclasses . 

Violaine has studied the Suzuki philosophy and is certified to teach Books 1, 2 and 4. She taught in the Escola Suzuki in Sao Paulo and implememted the method at a Brazilian middle school.

She has just moved in Miami and is working on building her own studio.
