Susan Stephenson grew up in Toledo, Ohio. She began studying the violin in 4th grade and continued through high school. She received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in violin performance from the University of Toledo and Ohio University, respectively. After graduation, she became interested in the Suzuki Method of musical instruction. She proceeded to enter Suzuki Violin Teacher Training and is certified through Volume 5. Later, she pursued Suzuki Early Childhood Education training and has taught Baby, Toddler, and Preschool classes.

Susan lived, taught, and performed in the Northern Virginia/Washington DC area nearly 30 years. She founded and was the director of the Prince William Suzuki Fiddlers, a performing group made up of her private students. They performed in churches, community events, and solo and group recitals.

Susan returned to Toledo in 2008 and has established the Suzuki Music School of Greater Toledo. Private and group lessons for ages 4 years through high school are offered, as well as, the Baby, Toddler, and Preschool classes.
