Steve loves to share music with others. As an active solo guitarist and chamber musician, Steve Newbrough has performed across the country, on television, and the radio. An eclectic musician, Steve has played the guitar in diverse venues across the US, and in vastly different styles. This has included playing the electric guitar with gospel choirs, abstract twentieth century music with dancers, and classical guitar on the concert stage. Steve spent 2009-2013 traveling the nation with the internationally-acclaimed Minneapolis Guitar Quartet. As a collaborative musician, Steve has worked with choreographers and dancers, in chamber ensembles, and with orchestras. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts as a student of Joseph Pecoraro. In 2008, Steve Newbrough received a Master’s Degree in Classical Guitar Performance under Jeffrey Van at the University of Minnesota.

Steve takes pride in his teaching. Throughout his career, Steve has enjoyed teaching students of all ages. Steve teaches because he loves sharing music with others and is passionate about learning. Steve takes the time to understand how his students learn, and strives to customize lessons for each student’s maximum potential for success.

Steve’s teaching style encompasses not only expert guitar technique and skill, but musicianship, music theory, cooperation, self-discipline, composure, and performance etiquette. Steve feels that development as a musician affects overall personal development.

Steve is also trained in the Suzuki Method, and offers Suzuki lessons for children. The Suzuki Method helps young children experience the joy of musical expression and creativity while advancing quickly in guitar skill.

In 2014, Steve and his wife relocated to Asheville, NC. He offers lessons at 1095 Hendersonville Rd, Asheville, NC 28803.
