Sarah E. Wood
Violin, Viola Teacher
Hello! Thanks for visiting. I has over 15 years of teaching experience with students of all ages and abilities. I’ve been in the Suzuki world since age 4 (as a Twinkler), and received my formal Suzuki training from William Starr.
I earned my Doctorate in violin performance from CU Boulder and also hold Bachelors and Masters degrees in violin performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where I studied with Paul Kantor and William Preucil.
I am also training as an Alexander Technique teacher because I’m interested in helping people integrate principles of healthy movement and mindfulness into their violin playing. I’ve also teamed up with Violinist in Balance, a Dutch organization that designs custom ergonomic equipment. That means I work with many players to get comfortable, avoid playing-related pain, and improve technique through improving mind/body coordination.
I teach all ages and all abilities, with particular emphasis on college preparatory students. I also have significant experience starting Pre-Twinklers. I truly believe that every person can play the violin (or viola!) Please email for more information regarding private lessons.
