Sarah Franklin, violin, has performed with Sir Paul McCartney, Sarah McLachlan, and Skylar Grey. An avid orchestral player, Sarah performs regularly in Manhattan’s most elite concert venues, including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, and Alice Tully Hall. She recently made her Broadway debut playing for Camelot at Lincoln Center Theater, where she is a violin substitute.

Ms. Franklin performs in the New York Pops, Distinguished Concerts Orchestra (DCINY), and Spectrum Symphony, and has held positions of Principal Second Violin of the New York Festival Orchestra, Metro Chamber Orchestra, and Astoria Symphony, among others. Notable engagements include touring from 2009-2010 as Concertmaster of the Broadway National Tour of Camelot, playing in Mexico with Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas for the 2010 Bicentennial, and performing under the esteemed conductors Kurt Masur, Robert Spano, Sir Simon Rattle, and David Zinman.

In addition to her Classical music credits, Sarah enjoys playing with various Pop, Rock, and Contemporary artists. Motion picture credits include the Amazon Prime television series, Mozart in the Jungle, and the short film, Lily in the Grinder, a finalist in the HBO series Project Greenlight, produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. She also recorded the film score for Franny, starring Richard Gere and Dakota Fanning, which premiered at the TriBeCa Film Festival, and LA 92, a National Geographic documentary. Sarah had the privilege of playing for the Tanya Taylor show at the MoMa for New York Fashion Week, performing with the electro pop band, Sweet Electra, and the Australian Indie band, Falls. She has played at Joe’s Pub, Rockwood Music Hall, Le Poisson Rouge, BAM, Highline Ballroom, and the 92nd Street Y, and recorded on the SONY Classical, EMI, and Bridge Record labels.

Ms. Franklin earned her Masters degree in 2009 from Manhattan School of Music as a student of Curtis Macomber, and her Bachelor of Music degree in 2007 from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, studying with Marilyn McDonald. Prior to her Conservatory training, she had the privilege of studying with the late Philipp Naegele, a prominent violin and viola soloist, and a founder of the renowned Marlboro Music Festival. In addition to performing, she currently teaches at the Lucy Moses School at Kaufman Center, and previously taught at the Third Street Music School Settlement for eleven years. With twenty years of teaching experience, Sarah also maintains a large private lesson studio in Manhattan. She lives with her husband and baby on the upper west side.
