Samantha Nelson grew up a ‘Suzuki kid’ studying violin with Ronda Cole from the age of 4 until high school graduation. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Violin Performance. In 2016, she received a performance certificate in solo violin performance from Carnegie Mellon University where she studied with Cyrus Forough.

Samantha now lives in Pittsburgh and performs throughout the Western Pennsylvania area. She regularly performs with groups such as the Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh, Westmoreland Symphony, Erie Philharmonic, Wheeling Symphony, and more. Samantha has participated in many summer music festivals such as the Heifetz International Music Institute, Bowdoin International Music Festival, MasterWorks Festival, and the Cambridge International Violin Academy in England. She has been selected to play in many masterclasses with notable teachers and artists such as Pamela Frank, Rachel Barton Pine, and Sergiu Schwartz. In 2016 Samantha was invited to compete in the 9th Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition in Augsburg Germany.

Samantha is passionate about sharing her love of music with her students.
