Mr. Spurbeck has been teaching Traditional and Suzuki Violin Instruction since 1993. His formal training began at age 4 with piano studies and he began taking Suzuki violin lessons when he was 6. During his young years, he studied with Louis Scott, Yuko Honda, and Allen Lieb. Sam received his Bachelors degree in Music Performance from Louisiana State University in 1991 where he studied with Sally O’Reilly. He received his Masters Degree from Indiana University in 1993 in Music Performance where he studied with Paul Biss and Nelli Shkolikova. His Suzuki Teacher Training instructors include Geri Arnold,  Alan Lieb, John Kendall, Carrie Reuning, and Kimberly Meyer Simms. Mr. Spurbeck has served as Director of the Starkville Mississippi Suzuki Program and Adjunct Professor at Mississippi State University. He has also held positions  at the Michigan State Community Music School, the Okemos, Michigan Suzuki Program, and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Currently Mr. Spurbeck provides private violin instruction in his home studio in Lansing Michigan.
