Sam’s formal training began at age 4 with piano studies and he began taking Suzuki violin lessons when he was 6. During his young years, he studied with Louis Scott, Yuko Honda, and Allen Lieb. Sam received his Bachelors degree in Music Performance from Louisiana State University in 1991 where he studied with Sally O’Reilly. He received his Masters Degree from Indiana University in 1993 in Music Performance where he studied with Paul Biss and Nelli Shkolikova.
He has served as Director of the Starkville Suzuki Program and Adjunct Professor at Mississippi State University. Currently, teaches private violin lessons in his home.
