Ryan Downs

Ryan Downs is a violinist and Suzuki teacher in Portland, Oregon with training in Suzuki Volumes 1-10. In 2018, she graduated from the University of New Mexico, where she studied with author and teacher trainer Susan Kempter. She taught in the UNM Suzuki Lab School as an intern for four years, going on to teach Suzuki classes as a graduate employee at the University of Oregon in Eugene. Ryan earned a master’s degree from the University of Oregon in 2020. She is a dedicated instructor who believes in the power of music to develop the whole child. “Besides being an intellectual and sometimes mathematical activity that strengthens the mind for overall success, the presence of music in one’s life is a centering practice with the potential to develop a student’s positive self-image and motivation.
