Ms. Regina L. Leslie
Ms. Leslie began studying violin at the age of 5. By age 8, she had begun her performing career as part of a trio, where she played and sang at various events. This early performing experience primed her for her current career, which balances itself between engagements as a violinist and as an actor and singer.
Ms. Leslie has studied with Ruth Ray (a student of Leopold Auer, who taught Jascha Heifetz), Emmanuel Vardi, and Gerardo Ribeiro. She holds a degree in violin performance with high honors from the University of Illinois, where she won the Smith scholarship and the Division Achievement Award.
She has performed with the Richmond (VA), Gainesville, Rockford, and Elgin Symphonies, and toured as a soloist in Japan with the Bill Porter Orchestra. Currently, she freelances in the Chicago area with various ensembles as a classical and electric violinist.
Regina is a certified Suzuki instructor (Chicago Suzuki Institute). She aims to balance the best traits of this methodology with traditional teaching styles, and tailors the balance to each student’s needs.
She resides with her husband in Berwyn, IL.
