Miss. Nicole Kootz
Viola, Violin Teacher
Originally from Philadelphia, Nicole recently completed her Master’s Degree in String Performance at Boston University under the instruction of Karen Ritscher. Her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance was completed at the University of South Florida with Kathie Aagaard and J.T Posadas. She has been studying viola and violin for over ten years and holds teacher certification in Suzuki Violin Books 1-3, with the intention of completing Book 4 next summer.
Before pursing her masters, Nicole was a faculty member at Patel Conservatory in Tampa, Florida, teaching seven group violin classes and a private studio each week. Over the course of her teaching and studies, Nicole has developed a deep interest in Alexander Technique and alternative performance outlets for string instruments. She owns a 6 string electric violin, is building a custom 5 string viola, works on developing sound installations, and more.
She strongly believes that music is a creative outlet that everyone can pursue, and is willing to expand beyond the traditional approaches in order to allow students to explore and discover their world.
Her favorite performance memories are from the concerts she played with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
