Nicholas Wynn is a “Pure Violist”  meaning he started playing the viola first and did not switch from violin. An Atlanta native, he discovered at an early age his passion for music and decided to pursue it and has received numerous awards, honors and accolades for his musical achievements. Nicholas has always had a passion for music, teaching and making his art a personal extension of himself. After sixteen years of playing, he still finds this art at the core of his musical journey. 

In 2013, he ranked in the top 10 in the state of Georgia in the GMEA (Georgia Music Educators Association) All-State Orchestra and was ranked in the top 2 at the county level. He was also the first in his alma mater South Cobb High Schools’ history to be accepted into the Atlanta Symphony Orchestras’ Talent Development Program. In addition, he was also the schools first member of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra for the 2011-2012 season. He has also performed with the Moores School of Music Symphony Orchestra, Opera and Chamber Ensembles. 

Nicholas is highly motivated and dedicated to creating exciting and welcoming learning environments. He is well organized and able to develop positive relationships with parents, students and teachers to ensure the success of students. Nicholas started teaching private lessons out of his mom’s living room as a senior in highschool. This later led to him becoming a Teacher/ Orchestra Director in classrooms all over the Pasadena Independent School District as a Student Teacher and he secured his first teaching position before graduating in December of 2021. From Elementary General Music to High School Orchestra, he has had a well rounded teaching experience and exposure to many different classroom environments. 

Nicholas is a Summa Cum Lade graduate of University of Houston where he received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Performance. He is Currently pursuing a Masters in Viola Performance and Pedagogy at the Peabody Institute with Victoria Chiang and is one of three InterPlay Teaching Artists for the Fall 2022 semester at UMBC. This summer, Nicholas will be participating in The National Alliance for Audition Support’s (NAAS) Audition Intensives which offer mock auditions, lessons, masterclasses, and performance psychology training to Black and Latinx musicians. Nicholas has displayed significant growth and dedication over the years and strived for the best in his performance and teaching practice.
