Nicholas Watts received his BA degree in music from Cambridge University in 1982. He was organ scholar at Queens’ College, and directed the St. Margaret Society Chorus. In 1983 he earned a diploma in music therapy from the Guildhall School of Music in London, and came to the US on an internship. He never left the US, except for a brief stint back in Engalnd working as a postman for the Royal Mail while waiting to return to the US to marry his wife to be, Barbara. In 1993, he earned his Masters Degree in family therapy from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. He is also a graduate of Music for People’s musicianship program, an organization devoted to the art of improvisation. He has worked for over 30 years in the US, combining family therapy, accompanying, teaching and church music. Inspiration for Suzuki piano teaching came from experiencing excellence in the violin and cello world through his two sons, the teaching of Lynne Beiler, Gerry Rice, and the Ogontz Suzuki Institute faculty. Nicholas has been teaching Suzuki piano privately from his home studio since 2007.
