Megan (Bain) Singer is from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She began studying the violin at the age of four with Suzuki teacher Yvonne DeRoller. She attended the Cleveland Institute of Music for two years and graduated from Dalhousie University in 2003 with combined BSC honours in Neuroscience and Music, studying the viola with Professor Philippe Djokic. Megan then traveled west to continue her viola studies with David Harding at the University of British Columbia, where she graduated with a Masters in Music in 2007.

Megan played in the viola section of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra full time and part time for ten years. She has also performed with Symphony Nova Scotia, Red Deer Symphony, Cowtown opera, played with various Broadway musicals including “The Lion King” and “Phantom of the Opera”. Megan loves chamber music and cherishes her time playing in the Jubilee and Quantum quartet in Halifax.

Megan started teaching violin in Calgary, privately and at the Mount Royal Conservatory. She is currently teaching at the Scotia Suzuki School of Music and has a private studio at home.
