Mrs. Maria Berenice Hoyos
Cello Teacher
About Me
With more than 30 years of teaching experience for the cello, I have taught students of all ages, throughout California and overseas. I earned a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Cello Performance and am currently the Principal Cellist for the Camellia Symphony in Sacramento and I am a orchestra teacher at Sacramento Country Day School. I am teaching all levels of cello to my students in Sacramento.
My professional performing and teaching experience began in Medellin, Colombia in 1985 with the Medellin Philharmonic Orchestra where I was their Soloist beginning in 1992 and later on, as First Cello, from 1998-2002.
Finally, I settled in Sacramento in 2003, coming here to earn my Master’s Degree in Cello Performance while performing throughout the next year with the California State University, Sacramento Symphony.
I have also performed with the Sacramento Metropolitan Orchestra and several other chamber groups.
At this time, I am teaching all levels of cello. My students range in age from five to seventy years and enjoy learning in a relaxing environment.
I incorporate several teaching styles to meet each student’s individual needs and abilities.
