Lucy Alessio has been playing violin for twenty years, and started her music training under the instruction of a Suzuki teacher. She has studied with several teachers, including Hai Xin Wu of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Sonia Lee.

Lucy was the first place winner of the Irene Kinsey-Staire violin award, offered by the Tuesday Musicale of Detroit. She won second place in both the Tuesday Musicale of Greater Pontiac Dora Dawson String Award Competition and the Birmingham Musicale Jean Hohmeyer String Award Competition and third place in the MMTA State Concerto Competition. She was chosen as a finalist for the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra Youth Artists Solo Competition and the Royal Oak Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition.

Currently, Lucy is pursuing her Master’s Degree in violin performance at Wayne State University. She has been an active musician in the Detroit area for many years, and enjoys participating in local orchestras and performing with various chamber groups. Lucy has been teaching private violin lessons since 2011.
