It all started with crayons at age 3 when Lisa imagined herself “playing” the violin. She had a love for the violin, but it wasn’t until the age of 10 that she started lessons.

She has studied with prestigious teachers Carrie Holden, Fangye Sun and Ji Hyun KIm. While attending Baptist College of Ministry she studied with Elizabeth Zempel, Suzanne Ignaszak, and Jamie Hofman in which she focused on violin pedagogy. She has completed a Viola/Violin Teacher’s Retreat course at Indiana University, and is a member of the SAA (Suzuki Association of the Americas) and has SAA registered teacher training for Violin Unit 1-4. Her desire is to teach students of all ages to enjoy the wonder of music for their very own.

Lisa has used her skills to teach while in high school and college, both in private lessons and assisting in larger groups. She has played in chamber groups as well as in the Baptist College of Ministry Orchestra, Kalamazoo College Philharmonia, Mason Symphony Orchestra, Austin Peay University Symphony Orchestra and Western Kentucky University Orchestra. Lisa takes every opportunity to learn and play, knowing this is what keeps true skills alive.

Lisa has a violin studio in Hopkinsville, Kentucky at Verity Baptist Music Academy for students ranging from toddlers to adults. Private and group lessons are taught with a Suzuki focus. Students can look forward to structured lessons that are also tailored to each student’s individual needs.
