Leslie R. De Leeuw
Leslie received bachelor’s degrees in both violin performance and music education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her Master’s in Music Education with minors in violin performance and string pedagogy from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. Her primary teachers have included Dr. Brenda Brenner, Simin Ganatra, and Betty-Jean Hagen. Leslie currently teaches privately in the Hudson Valley and in White Plains. She previously taught at the Fairview Elementary Violin Project in Bloomington, Indiana. Leslie is a member of the American String Teacher’s Association, where she has presented sessions on applying to music schools and using self-directed rehearsals in student chamber music groups. She will also be presenting a session this year on adapting playground games into the orchestra classroom. She strongly believes that playing an instrument should be a challenging and fun experience and enjoys working with students of all ages.
