In 2022 Larry completed his Suzuki Books 3 & 4 teacher training making him one of only twelve teachers worldwide prepared to teach Books 1 through 4. He is currently on faculty at the Indianapolis Suzuki Academy. Larry has taught at the college level since 2007 and is currently Associate Faculty, Trumpet, with Indiana University at their IUPUI campus in the Music & Arts Technology Department. He has also taught at the University of Indianapolis, and the University of Tennessee/Knoxville.

He earned his B.S. in Music Education from the University of Indianapolis, and his M.M. in Trumpet Performance from Butler University. He began his trumpet instruction with Vincent DiMartino in 1982. He has also studied with Marvin Perry, Dan Gosling, Roger Ingram, and is currently a student of Bobby Shew.

As a performer Larry is currently Principal Trumpet with Orchestra Indiana, the Owensboro Symphony, and the Anderson Symphony. He is also the founding member of The Forge, a professional touring brass quintet dedicated to performing the great works of artists including Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, and many others from the era of Classic Rock.

The son of a career U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant, and the father of a career U.S. Army Sergeant, Larry is also proud to have served this great country as a member of the U.S. Air Force at Headquarters USAF, the Pentagon.

He also chairs the Indiana International Trumpet Guild Conference, and is the creator and host of the studioHFL podcast which features interviews with legendary musicians and legends in the making.

Larry is a dual Performing Artist for both the Eastman Music Company and S.E. Shires.
