Mrs. Lana Ramsay
Lana Ramsay was born in Watson, Saskatchewan, Canada and received her early piano training with the Ursuline Sisters in the province, followed by studies in Saskatoon with Lyell Gustin and Robin Harrison. Further study brought her to Lawrence, KS, where she studied with Jack Winerock and participated in Master lessons with American pianist, Leon Fleischer. She graduated from the U of Kansas with a B.Mus. in Piano Performance. While in Kansas, Mrs. Ramsay was introduced to the Suzuki Piano Method and took initial teacher training there. Returning to Sask., she continued Suzuki teacher training and established her piano studio in Regina. She has been inspired in her teacher training by Dr. Kataoka, Sue Kwak, Merlin Thompson, Elaine Worley, Peggy Swingle, Cleo Brimhall, and Gail Lange, and colleagues Silvija Abols, Nicole Wilton and Pat Huck. Presently Mrs. Ramsay resides in Grand Coulee, SK with her husband, Doug, and teaches there, and most recently is teaching at the Conservatory of Performing Arts in Regina, Sk. She is an experienced teacher, master class instructor at Suzuki piano workshops and institues, accompanist, and is an adjudicator for the Saskatchewan Music Festival Association. She has four grown children, two of which are string players.
She is passionate in her belief that ALL children can learn to play an intrument very well, if given a rich environment of beautiful music and love.
