Kristin Pfeifer Yu

Kristin Pfeifer Yu received her Doctor of Music in violin performance from Florida State University under the tutelage of Eliot Chapo. She currently serves as Lecturer of Violin and Director of the South Georgia String Project at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. Dr. Pfeifer Yu performs with the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, Valdosta Symphony Orchestra, and Sinfonia Gulf Coast. As a registered Suzuki instructor, she has worked with notable Suzuki teachers such as Hiroko Driver-Lippman, Joanne Bath, Ed Kreitman, Nancy Lokken, Susan Baer, and Terry Durbin. Dr. Pfeifer Yu has also worked as an instructor at the University of Kentucky String Project and as a Master Teacher at The Character Center String Academy, an after school enrichment program geared towards grade school students in Tallahassee, in addition to maintaining a full private violin studio. Summer studies have included the Colorado College Summer Music Festival, Chautauqua, Brevard, and Domaine Forget. Former instructors and mentors include Corinne Stillwell, Daniel Mason, Margaret Karp, Benjamin Karp, Michael Davis, Sherry Hoffmeister, Hiroko Driver-Lippman, and Almita Vamos.
