Kendra Zimmerman began lessons in the Suzuki Piano Method in elementary school as a student of Ann D. Shurtz of Mechanicsburg, PA. As a junior and collegiate artist with the prestigious Wednesday Club of Harrisburg, PA, Kendra performed regularly and was awarded several scholarships for her undergraduate study in Piano Pedagogy. She earned her graduate degree in Piano Pedagogy from Bob Jones University of Greenville, SC in 2009. She has lived and traveled in Japan, and is passionate about Asian culture, music educational methods, and the Suzuki philosophy. In 2013, Kendra traveled to Matsumoto, Japan for the Suzuki Method World convention, observing lessons and lectures in both Japanese and English. She is a 2014 recipient of the National Music Teacher’s Association Teacher Enrichment Grant. Her students have won district performance festivals and their compositions have been published in Clavier’s Piano Explorer magazine. Over the past several years, Kendra has enjoyed connecting with the international community of Greenville, adapting lessons to meet the needs of Spanish and Japanese–speaking students. Strong in her belief that every student is capable and brings something beautiful and unique to her studio, Kendra strives to give each student the individual, tailored lesson experience they deserve. She is excited to be teaching in Greenville and building long-term relationships with her students and their families!!
