Music has been a big part of my life since I was very young, so when my wife and I had kids, we began with music immersion before birth and looked for ways to enrich and educate our children in the best ways possible. After completing Music Together and Music for Young Children, we learned about the Suzuki Method and that is where our Suzuki journey began. We placed our first child in Kindergarten at Edmonton’s Suzuki Charter School followed, eventually, by our second and third.
My Suzuki teacher training commenced with Dr. Merlin Thompson at the 2006 Edmonton Summer Suzuki institute and I have since completed several practicums, Music Reading and Group Teaching classes through Holy Names University in Oakland, CA, as well as Suzuki Principles in Action and Suzuki teacher training in books 1 thru 7. I’ve been fortunate to have worked with well-known Suzuki teacher trainers like Marilyn Anderson in Montreal, Quebec, Caroline Fraser in Chicago, IL and Oakland, CA and Gail Lange in Edmonton. My areas of music study include Jazz Piano Performance from the Edmonton Grant MacEwan College Performing Arts Campus, Royal Conservatory of Music Level 10 and I am continuing on towards my ARCT. Over the past 28 years, I have enjoyed teaching children and adults in various styles and traditional methods while playing professionally for various events and functions. Musical groups I’ve been fortunate to create or join have performed popular musical styles from Celtic/East Coast to Classic Rock, Rhythm and Blues, Avante Garde, Progressive Rock, Ska, Funk, Jazz and accompaniment for School Choir. I enjoy teaching Suzuki-style and love observing how the bond between parent and child develops and flourishes through music. My studio is located in southeast (Millwoods) Edmonton. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio!
