Professional pianist and piano teacher, Julia Valero has a Bachelor’s Degree from the “Escuela Superior de Musica” of the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico and a Master’s Degree in piano interpretation from the “Université Laval” in Quebec City.
As a teacher Julia Valero has been teaching piano for more than 15 years and the Suzuki method for over 10 years, she is an active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas since 2011 and a former teacher at the renowned McGill Conservatory of Music in Montreal, Canada. She is currently a music teacher for the Comission Scolaire Marguerite Bourgeoys and teaches Suzuki piano at her studio in English, French and Spanish. She also teaches the Prepiano the first approach course for kids between the ages of 2.5 and 4.5 who want to begin to learn about piano and the Suzuki method at a young age.
With an exceptional talent and a repertoire ranging from the baroque repertoire to the contemporary music, jazz, tango and Latin, Julia Valero has given concerts in Mexico, Vienna, Germany, Paris, Argentina and Canada. Finalist and winner in several competitions: third prize winner of the Piano Competition at the “Escuela Superior de Música” (2002) and second prize at the Concertos Contest (2005), in addition to having earned the “Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores” award for graduate studies in Quebec, Canada (2007). In 2008, Laval University awarded her with the Marc-Andre Hamelin at the best proficiency examination and the prize of “Solo with orchestra”, she also qualified for the merit scholarship from the Laval University twice (2008 and 2009).
