Originally from the Midwest, violinist Jonathon Winter has performed as a solo, chamber, and ensemble musician across the United States and Europe. Recently, Jonathon has performed as soloist with the Oneota Valley Orchestra and the Eurasia Chamber Orchestra of Berlin, and has performed in masterclasses with Kathrin ten Hagen, Elmar Oliveira, Henning Kraggerud, Judith Ingolfsson, and Zakhar Bron. He has been a member of the Palm Beach Symphony, AIMS in Graz Festival Orchestra, Round Top Festival Orchestra, and the National Repertory Orchestra. Equally comfortable as a studio musician, Jonathon can be heard as concertmaster on Latin Grammy-nominated album “An Open Book” with Jorge Mejia for Sony Music, has recorded for jazz singer Patti Austin, and has performed with major artists such as Jeff Beal, Kristin Chenoweth, and John Williams, among others. Jonathon is an advocate for contemporary music, having worked with composers Libby Larsen, Dana Kaufman, Mary Ellen Childs, and Martin Bresnik, and has premiered several new works with various ensembles across the United States and Europe.

Also an emerging educator and a formally trained Suzuki Method teacher, Jonathon spent five years as a violin instructor at the Suzuki School of the Frost Preparatory Program at the University of Miami. He maintained a full studio of young violinists, taught group classes, and coached chamber music. His students have successfully competed in both local and national competitions.

Recently relocated to Boulder, Colorado, Jonathon started his Doctor of Musical Arts degree as the teaching assistant to Charles Wetherbee and joined the faculty of Boulder Suzuki Strings. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Music degree from the University of Miami. His previous teachers are Mark Bjork, Carol Cole, and Charles Castleman.
