I am a violinist from Chicago (formerly known as Isabelle Rozendaal) and I now maintain my private violin and viola studio in Evanston. I studied violin performance and social justice at Oberlin College and Conservatory, completed my masters degree in violin performance at DePaul University, and taught orchestra in public schools after completing my certificate in Music Education at DePaul University. I have been teaching violin for over 15 years now and absolutely love working with my students! I have experience teaching all ages, 3 to adult. I specialize in working with beginners of all ages, adult learners are welcome!

In addition to teaching I play baroque violin and maintain an active performance schedule with groups such as Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra, New Philharmonic and other chamber ensembles in the area.

Teaching is so rewarding- I love helping students achieve their goals! My teaching is a mix of Suzuki and traditional, depending on what is best for the student. I also teach fiddle, improv, and pop arrangements!

Besides performing and teaching violin, I am also very interested physical wellness and health, and have advanced yoga teacher training. My interest in healthy posture and alignment comes from my own journey to find a comfortable way to hold and play the violin. Physical alignment and comfort is a priority in my teaching. Movement practices I have studied include tai chi, yoga, and Feldenkrais.

I teach private lessons at my home in Evanston. To inquire about lessons email or give me a call!
