Irene’s musical training began with traditional piano lessons at the age of 8. At age 14 she switched to violin and has never looked back! She holds a B.A. in Music from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. in Music Performance from California State University, Fresno.

Irene has 20 years of experience teaching both Suzuki and traditional violin in the private studio and in schools, with students ages 3 1/2 – 80+. Following several years as a freelance and orchestral musician, Irene has focused her career on teaching violin, which has become her passion. Her later start on the violin gave her the opportunity to approach violin technique and performance with deep appreciation and mindfulness.

In addition to Suzuki violin, Irene has also completed training in Music Mind Games, a game-based music literacy program for children, and Suzuki Early Childhood Education.

She has a private studio and is also a member of the Suzuki music faculty at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop in Washington, DC.
