Mrs. Heidi Kahl Sawyer
Heidi Sawyer has been teaching Suzuki violin for over 25 years. She received her BA in music from Luther College, and an MA in music with an emphasis in violin performance and Suzuki pedagogy from Western Illinois University. At WIU, Heidi studied with Almita and Roland Vamos, and completed the long term Suzuki teacher training program while teaching in the WIU Suzuki program. Additional teacher training courses were completed with James Maurer, Alice Joy Lewis and Carol Dallinger.
Heidi has taught at the David Adler Cultural Center, Libertyville, IL, and the Northern Lights School for Strings, St. Paul, MN. She currently maintains a private studio at her home in St. Anthony, Minnesota.
From 2006—2011 she served as the Scholarship Coordinator and was an active member of the board of the Suzuki Association of Minnesota.
Heidi is also an adjunct violin instructor at the University of Northwestern, St. Paul.
