Mrs. Frances Green
Suzuki in the Schools
Frances Green is the President and founder of Greenville Suzuki Strings Association, an organization formed in 1997 to promote the establishment of a strings program in Greenville, Texas. Having been the Suzuki “home teacher” for her daughter for fourteen years, attending two International Conferences, twenty or more Suzuki Institutes and the 14th SAA Biennial Conference, she has been associated with the Suzuki Method as a parent and supporter for thirty-five years. While taking her daughter to Dallas weekly for violin lessons Frances dreamed of having a Suzuki strings program in Greenville available to any family who wished to participate. Thus, the idea of planting the Suzuki program in the public schools of Greenville gradually became a reality, gathering the support first of the community and then the public schools. The Greenville Suzuki Strings Association provides funds for instruments so that every child in the Greenville public schools who wishes to participate in the program is provided the proper size instrument at no cost to the family.
Frances is a graduate of Southern Methodist University earning a degree in Elementary Education with additional studies in English Literature. She and her husband Larry, an attorney, have two adult children and three Miniature Schnauzers.
