Ms. Erica Boland
Violin, Viola Teacher
Erica Boland (ni Mehlhorn) began her violin studies as a Suzuki student at the age of 3 in Albquerque, NM as a student of Susan Kempter. Erica graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Music Studies with K-12 certification from The University of Texas at Austin in 2000. Erica taught in the String Project program under the supervision of Laurie Scott and student taught at Austin High School with Elizabeth Brady and William Dick. She attended Northern Arizona Univerty as a Graduate Assistant to the Suzuki and Orchestra programs earning her Master’s Degree in Violin Performance and Suzuki Certification books 1-4 in 2002.
Erica performed as a member of the UT Symphony and Opera Orchestras in Austin, TX (1996-200). AT NAU University, Erica performed as a member and concertmaster of the NAU Symphony and NAU Chamber Orchestra (2000-2002). Erica performed as a member of the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra (2000-2002) and performed as Principal 2nd Violinist in 2002. Erica performed with The Empire String Quartet in Albuquere, NM as the 2nd Violinist (2007-2013).
Erica opened and taught private Suzuki Violin lessons through the Mehlhorn Violin studio, taught Orchestra in the public schools, and coached 2nd violin sectionals with the Albuquerque Junior Symphony program in Albuquerque, NM from 2002-2014. In 2014 Erica moved to Portland, Oregon where she opened the Boland Violin Studio to continue teaching Suzuki Violin.
