Emily Sunderman

Emily Sunderman began her Suzuki violin studies at the Hartford Conservatory at age three with Barbara Embser. Her preparatory studies were at the Hartt School of Music. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in studying Dance and Painting at Hampshire College, in Amherst, MA. Her post-graduate violin studies were with Arturo Delmoni. She has also worked privately with Katherine Winterstein, Sebu Sirinian, Dieuwke Davidov and Nickoli Sikorsky. She completed Book 1 and 2 certification with Carrie Hummel-Reuning at Hartt School of Music, Books 3 and 4 with Ed Kreitman and Book 5 with Kimberly Meier-Sims at Ithaca College, book 6 with Pam Reit in Vermont, and Book 7 at Hartt with Sue Baer.

In addition to teaching students of all ages, Emily is a Suzuki parent, skis, plays tennis and practices yoga, substitute teaches in our public schools, and maintains an active performance schedule as a soloist and collaborator. She is on the faculty at the Middlebury Community Music Center.
