Emilia Carter began studying violin at the age of 4, under the tutelage of violinist Matthew Olsen. Growing up on beautiful Orcas Island in the Pacific Northwest, she had many opportunities to perform locally and attended masterclasses made possible at the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival. She completed her undergraduate degree in violin performance at the Biola University Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, and her M.M. at the University of Louisville under Jennifer Ross.

Currently, Emilia performs with the Paducah Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Kentucky, and has performed with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, the Lexington Philharmonic, Cave Run Symphony Orchestra and at many local churches. As a teacher, she is a part-time faculty member of the Seminary School of the Arts and the Sacred Heart School of the Arts and holds a private studio of her own. She has taught at the Oldham County Arts Center, the Southern Indiana Music Academy, Little Flock Baptist Church, and others. During the summer months, she returns to Orcas Island to perform with her twin sister as part of Almost Classical.
