Ed Harper is a professional cellist, conductor, composer and arranger from the UK. Ed holds a Bachelor of Music Degree with first class honours from the University of Sheffield. During his time at Sheffield, he was principal cellist of the University Symphony, Chamber, String and Baroque orchestras. Ed studied with French/Catalan cellist Marie Bitlloch, currently of the Elias String Quartet and formerly of Ensemble 360, and went on to win the Mrs Stewart Blake Prize for best undergraduate final recital.

After completing his undergraduate studies, Ed moved to Manchester to complete a Master of Music Degree at the Royal Northern College of Music. Whilst at the RNCM he was Principal Cellist of the Concert, Opera and Brand New Orchestras respectively, and had the opportunity to work with such esteemed conductors as Clark Rundell and Matthew Coorey.

In 2013 Ed moved to Singapore to teach music in an International School, helping to develop the strings and orchestral programs, and founded an after-school Suzuki strings program for students aged 5-7. He has subsequently gained registration as a Suzuki Cello Teacher from the Chicago and Austin Suzuki Institutes, and become a lifetime member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. During his time in Singapore, he also performed with the Orchestra of the Music Makers under Professor Chan Tze Law at the Esplanade Concert Hall.

Ed now lives in Houston, Texas where he maintains a private cello and theory studio and is currently studying for his DMA in Cello Performance at the University of Houston. He is currently accepting new students.
