Dijana Ihas serves as an Associate Professor of Music Education at Pacific University in Oregon and in that role she teaches courses in music education and conducts university orchestra. She is a Founding Director and Master Teacher of the nationally recognized after-school music education program String Project, in which undergraduate students teach string instruments to young students under her close supervision and guidance.

Dr. Ihas is regular presenter on string pedagogy and string education topics at state, regional, and national conferences and her publications appeared in American String Teacher (AST) magazine, Journal of String Research, and Council for Undergraduate Research (CUR) Quarterly, among others. Dr. Ihas’ educational background includes Bachelor Degree in Music Performance-Viola (University of Sarajevo), Master of Fine Arts in Performance (University of California Irvine), Master of Music in Music Education (University of Arizona), PhD in Music Education (University of Oregon), and the Graduate Certificate in Advanced Orchestral Conducting (Messiah College, PA). She is registered Suzuki violin/viola teacher and she completed official and/or unofficial trainings in thirteen other string pedagogy approaches, in addition to Kodaly’s and Orff’s certifications.
