Mr. Cornel Zotta
Violin, Viola Teacher
A native of Romania, Cornel Zotta is a graduate of the Conservatory of Music “Ciprian Porumbescu” from Bucharest, Romania (today renamed “The National University of Music”) where he received his degree in teaching and performing. Although his training and schooling were primarily done in the traditional method, it was after his arrival to the United States in 1985 when he became acquainted with the Suzuki method. His first contact with the renowned method was in 1990 when he attended his first Suzuki workshop at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, where, over several summers, he did his training as a Suzuki teacher. There he had the chance to observe and learn from a few prestigious American Suzuki teachers: Linda and Roger Stieg, Ronda Cole, Brice Farrar, Terry Durbin and many others.
Besides his more than 20 years of experience as a Suzuki violin teacher, Cornel Zotta held music teaching positions in public schools in Romania. As a performer, he was a member of the Brasov Opera Company until his defection from then-communist Romania to the western world. As a freelance musician, he performed for many years in the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, and has played with Canton Symphony and other groups throughout Northeast Ohio. He is currently an active member of the Tuscarawas Philharmonic in Dover, OH. He is married and has a daughter, Anna, who was one of his Suzuki students until her departure for college.
