Christine Chan is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. She has been a Suzuki parent since 1987, and a Suzuki teacher since 1988 under the mentorship of Caroline Fraser. She is formally trained to book 3, observed classes to book 7 and has taught up to book 6. Christine has also studied under Constance Starr and Mary Craig Powell as well as attending Suzuki Institutes to observe master classes for all levels of Doris Kopplemann, Dorris Harrel, Caroline Fraser, etc. and has attended workshops by Peggy Swingle, Mark Steiner, Betty Wu, Roy Bogas, and more. Having been a Suzuki parent for her own 3 children, and a teacher for 33 years, she fully understands the roles of Suzuki Triangle and the key factor of creating nurturing environment for success.

Christine emphasizes the importance of music reading. For skill development she particularly appreciates singing, use appropriate object lessons for demonstration, analogies, and questions of discovery to help students feel accomplished at the lesson. She has over 3 decades of teaching experience. While in MA, she was on faculty at Creative Arts for Kids. Utilizing the philosophy mentioned in “Nurtured by Love” by Dr. Shininchi Suzuki, she dedicates her teaching with the Mother Tongue Approach, and respects the individuality of each student. Having recently moved to WA in summer of 2017, Christine will continue to joyfully teach holistically with care and encouragement in the greater Tacoma area, Wa.
Christine also conducts lessons via online (Zoom Platform) and hope to outreach any part of the world with the Suzuki philosophy to mold her students to become loving and responsible citizens to be of a light to the world to benefit humankind.
