Candida Wurman Yoshikai has played violin since age 5, the child of European musicians. She studied traditionally with Joseph Golan, Principal Second of the Chicago Symphony and Pedagogue, George Perlman, before the arrival of Suzuki Method to the US. Her mother, Brenda Wurman, became a well known and loved early teacher of the Suzuki Method in Oak Park and Chicago area since 1968. Candida studied at the Talent Education Institute in Matsumoto, Japan with Dr. Suzuki from 1982—1986, graduating after a 3.5 year study. Influenced greatly by Dr. Suzuki’s training and relationship, and with her traditional roots, Candida has taught violin since 1986 in Israel, Oak Park, Il., Salt Lake City, Ut., Olympia, Wa. and since 2003, in her Woodberry Studio in Durham, NC. She is also accepting students in Greensboro, NC, where her husband, luthier Shinichiro Yoshikai services players at his shop, SunsetHillsStudio. Candida’s website:
