Billy Switzer

Billy Switzer has been teaching guitar in Durham, NC since 2004 and Suzuki Guitar since 2005. He has currently registered Teacher Training for Suzuki Guitar Books 1-5, studying the Suzuki Method under David Madsen, Andrea Cannon, and Bill Kossler. He has taught students as young as 3 years old, and currently has students ages 6-17 across all 9 Suzuki Guitar books. He has had two students place in the Appalachian Guitar Festival Competition.

Switzer has a B.M. in Jazz Studies from NCCU as well as B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science and an M.S. in Mathematics from NCSU. He studied guitar with Baron Tymas at NCCU as well as Luciano Suarez, Mir Ali, and Danny Gotham. In addition to performing with the jazz and guitar ensembles at NCCU and NCSU, he has performed with Bob Funck, Anna Rose Beck, the Crucial Fiya Reggae Band, Corey Parker, and at numerous weddings in the Triangle area. Switzer currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Triangle Guitar Society as Membership Coordinator.
