I began playing violin when I was 4 years old with the Suzuki method. I have been teaching violin lessons privately for over 30 years.
I received my BM in violin Performance from the University of Utah, and my MM in Violin Performance from the University of Kansas. I also received a graduate degree in Violin Performance from Park University’s International Center for Music.
I have taken many Suzuki teacher training courses from John Kendall, Linda Fiore, and other wonderful trainers as well as all the “Solo For Young Violinists” training from Barbara Barber.
I believe in the Suzuki philosophy of the parents being involved with their child’s music, especially when they are young.
Depending on each student and their individual needs I may incorporate traditional teaching along with the Suzuki Philosophy, more or less with each student.
I love music and feel that learning how to play an instrument and appreciate good music helps to expand the mind and instill a sense of responsibility, hard work, and accomplishment.
