Alesha Smith grew up as a Suzuki student, beginning violin at age 4 and adding piano at age 6, studying with some of the finest and most reputable educators in the country. Desiring to continue her work with music, she began her Suzuki teacher training and music degrees in violin and viola performance in 2000.  In addition to earning a B.M in violin performance (Azusa Pacific University, Los Angeles area, CA) and her M.M in violin and viola performance (Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA), she has completed teacher training in Suzuki levels 1-7 from some of the finest Suzuki pedagogues in the world, and for the past 10 years has taught hundreds of students and maintained private studios comprised of over 35 students, ages 3 to adult, at two prestigious music schools (Pittsburgh Music Academy and City Music Center of Duquesne University, both in Pittsburgh, PA).  In addition to teaching, she is a freelance professional chamber and symphonic musician, a clinician for music institutes and camps, a church musician, wife, and mother of two young boys.
